• Origem e local de proveniência: Recolhida na Natureza (fêmea fundadora). Zoobotânico de Jerez de la Frontera, Espanha

• Data de chegada a Portugal: 26 de Outubro de 2009. Foi o primeiro lince a povoar o Centro Nacional de Reprodução do Lince-ibérico.

Na época de reprodução de 2010, aconteceram os primeiros partos em cativeiro em Silves. No mês de Abril, Azahar, que nunca tinha levado uma gravidez até ao final, teve duas crias, resultando do cruzamento com o macho Drago no final de Janeiro. Estas crias não sobreviveram a malformações congénitas e a uma infecção aguda, mas trazem optimismo à época de reprodução de 2011, especialmente por Azahar ser uma das fêmeas fundadoras no programa de reprodução em cativeiro, ou seja, ao ser um animal que não nasceu em cativeiro torna-se mais relevante a sua contribuição para a diversidade genética dos linces do Programa Ex situ.

• Arrival at the CNRLI: 26th October 2009. She was the first lynx to inhabit the Silves National Reproducion Centre of the Iberian Lynx.

The first births in ex-situ in Silves happened during the reproductive season of 2010. In April that year, Azahar, who had never once been able to complete a pregnancy, gave birth to two cubs, after being matched with the male Drago on late January. None of the cubs survived as they suffered from congenital malformations and an accute infection, but their birth brought hope to the next season, specially because Azahar was one of the first females at the centre and hadn’t been born there – their contribution to genetiv variability for the Ex-situ programm is greatly beneficial.

Transferida para Silves do Centro de Cría La Olivilla, Jaén, Espanha. É filha da Saliega e Garfio, dois animais emblemáticos do programa de cria. Castañuela teve 3 ninhadas em La Olivilla. É mãe do Fauno e do Gamma, animais em que estão atualmente no CNRLI.

Castañuela is the daughter of Saliega and Garfio, two emblematic individuals from the Cub program in the Cub Centre of La Olivilla in Jaén, Spain. She has had 3 sets of cubs in La Olivilla, and is mother to Fauno and Gamma, two animals which are currently present at the CNRLI.
